When the Australian corporate ABC Learning went into receivership the future of its 1100 childcare centres, employing 16,000 staff and serving more than 100,000 children was also uncertain.

A group of not-for-profit organisations formed Children 21 - a consortium of six organisations with the aim of bidding for 241 centres. Community Child Care Co-operative NSW was part of the consortium.

PPB, one of the court=appointed receivers has published a list of centres that will be sold, shut down or remain in limbo. The receiver has not yet named the buyers but it is expected that there will be up to 65 different buyers.
