A new report by KPMG Australia has announced that credit unions and building docieties in Australia have experienced solid growth this year. The profitability of credit unions increased by 37% and building societiues by just over 34% in the 12 months to the end of June 2010. Asset and capitqal levels have also increased. ABACUS Australian Mutuals reports that its member building societies and credit unions have seen a surge in inquiries and applications as people are switching from banks.
