Macarthur Credit Union welcomed the Federal Government’s banking reform package unveiled by Treasurer Wayne Swan on Sunday.
“There are some real positives for credit unions and building societies in the Government’s announcement. Macarthur Credit Union is ready to compete with the banks and this package gives a welcome boost to our efforts,” said David Cadden, GM of Macarthur Credit Union.
“Macarthur Credit Union is a great customer-owned alternative to the banks. We’ve been serving our members and our communities with great products and services for years” said David.
The Government’s “Bank on a better deal” campaign and the proposals to make switching accounts easier will make important contributions to raising consumer awareness that there is choice in banking.
“There is competition in banking and the Government’s campaign will help more consumers know about the great value deals being offered by credit unions and building societies.
“We encourage consumers to come in and find out what Macarthur Credit Union can offer them. Shopping around might just be the best financial decision you ever make,” said David.
Credit unions and building societies will continue to consult with the Government of the detailed elements of the package and look forward to implementing the reforms over the coming months.
“The Government is clearly frustrated with the big banks. Consumers are clearly frustrated.
“We say – don’t get frustrated, get even. Take your business somewhere else. Come and visit Macarthur Credit Union and we’ll help you get better value banking at a place where you will always come first,” said David.
