The Social Business Australia inaugural lecture by the President of the International Co-operative Alliance, Dame Pauline Green, on 15 March 2010 in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory,  is an opportunity for Australia's co-operatives to demonstrate their commitment to co-operative values and principles.

It is an important opportunity to show the Australian Government that co-operatives matter and that the sector is strong and demands a place at the table. It is also an opportunity to press the Australian Government fior serious support for the United Nations International Co-operatives Year in 2012.

Co-operatives Australia has in recent years been advocating the important role of co-operatives and has issued three publications - Co-operatives and Public Policy, Australia's Top Co-operatives, Credit Unions and Mutuals and Co-operative Education. The three publications can be accessed at the Co-operatives Australia web site - http://www.australia.coop
