The Australian Government is reviewing its options for the Australian Wheat Board.

This was announced today by the Australian Government.

The Australian Government will also remove temporarily the AWB's veto power over bulk wheat exports.

For the next six months the Australian Government's Agriculture Minister, Mr. Peter McGauran, will exercise this veto.

This will require the passage of legislation through the Australian Parliament.

In November AWBI vetoed a series of qapplications from the Western Australian co-operative CBH.

The Australian Government has said that it will consult wheat growers on the future of the AWB.
