The retailer Warrnambool Co-operative Society Limited in Victoria has experienced a A$1.145 million loss in the last financial year - the largest in its 47 year history.
This is the fourth consecutive loss and from 1 October 2007 the co-operative will be discontinuing its 4% discount scheme.
It was about five months ago that the co-operative opened a new multi-million dollar rural and hardware store.
